How can we achieve a more equitable society in the post-coronavirus era? Does society require a new social contract? How can Europe strengthen its social policy, and what mechanisms can contribute to a more equitable global approach?
U-turn 2021 takes the reader on a journey of reflection, setting out signposts and introducing new avenues. To this end, the authors of this collection seek inspiration from the founders of the social contract and more contemporary protagonists, and discuss intergenerational solidarity, urban spatial planning, debt mediation, microfinance and European social policy.
This publication is the result of a second series of webinars held in 2021 and includes contributions from Maurice Adams, Johan Bastiaensen, Luce Beeckmans, Koen Decancq, Loïc De Cannière, Benjamin De Mesel, Frédéric Huybrechs, Sarah Kuypers, Willem Lemmens, Sarah Marchal, Stijn Oosterlynck, An Rekkers, Alexander Rosenthal, Barbara Segaert, Matthias Somers, Elias Storms, Esma Uçan, Geert van Istendael, Antoon Vandevelde and Anne Van Lancker.
