European solidarity in the global context of international migration
The UCSIA Winter School examines European solidarity in the global context of international migration.
Theory
Experts and policymakers from various disciplines explore, together with the students, the social and political implications of migration and discuss current issues and tensions dominating the EU agenda.
Action
The programme is unique as students not only engage in lectures and discussion sessions, but also have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a short-term service-learning experience at local social organizations supporting refugees and migrants in Antwerp.
Field trip to the European Parliament
The programme also includes a field trip to Brussels to visit the European Parliament and to discuss the topic with NGOs and policy makers. At the end of the week, students share their reflections with migration experts, community partners and with their fellow students.
