MYEurope

MYEurope

More than ever, it is necessary to debate experiences, fears and hopes concerning Europe, trying to find out what will be the future of a project in which unity and diversity come together.

Bringing in perspectives from very different angles and backgrounds, the panel joins young students from all over the continent who will present and discuss their views on Europe in the making.

The debate will be hosted by lecturer Peter Hanenberg.

Peter Hanenberg is professor of German and cultural studies at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Lisbon and vice-rector for research and doctoral studies. There, he coordinates the European university network Transform4Europe and was previously a visiting professor in Germany, Ireland and Portugal, among others. His research focuses on the relationship between cognition and culture and how the idea of Europe is represented literarily.

FUCE Summer School 2025

We are organizing this panel discussion as part of the FUCE summer school.

Populism Remaking Humanism?

The 6th edition of the FUCE summer school has a special focus on the emerging populism and its impact on European society.

This summer school offers bachelor students the opportunity to engage with leading thinkers, critically analyze the roots and consequences of populism and explore innovative approaches to strengthen democracy in the 21st century.

Public sessions

The full programme is reserved for the selected candidates.

However, you can participate live or online in this panel debate and in the opening session with legal expert Ioannis Panoussis (Université Catholique de Lille) and political scientist Andrew Glencross (ESPOL) on populism, political and human rights, and the spreading of hate.
