Compassion as a silent force behind innovation

On Thursday 22 May, Finnish sociologist Anne Birgitta Pessi will be our guest for the final lecture in the ‘Compassion in Context’ series. Ahead of this talk, an interview appeared in Tertio in which Pessi shares her insights on compassion as a driver of innovation in organisations and communities.

Compassion as a silent force behind innovation

According to Pessi, the key to innovation is not to be found in management models or technology, but in the way people interact with each other. Her research shows that a culture of psychological safety, trust and human interaction is essential for creative collaboration.

In addition to compassion, Pessi advocates ‘copassion’: sharing joy and positive energy within teams. Such connectedness enhances motivation, innovation and meaning.

During the lecture (in English) at MAS (Antwerp), Pessi explores how compassion can contribute to building inclusive communities.
