ELP Graduation Fall 2020 Cohort
online event on 22 February 2021
The European Leadership Programme is an initiative of the Jesuit European Social Centre. It aspires to contribute to the reform of the spiritual, social and political life in Europe, reorienting it towards a quest for the common good, in line with the long Jesuit tradition in forming leaders to change the world. In the current cohort, fourteen fellows have started their formation in one of the three ELP houses in October 2020
UCSIA supports the programme in co-organizing the academic paper presentation session of the fellows before a jury and the graduation ceremony. The upcoming, fourth graduation ceremony will take place on the 22nd of February 2021 from 6.00 to 7.30 pm.
The keynote speaker is Klaus Welle, Secretary General of the European Parliament, following in the footsteps of previous keynotes, Shéhérazade Semsar-de Boisséson, CEO of Politico Europe; baron Frans van Daele, former ambassador of Belgium and chief of staff of President van Rompuy and Monsignor Alain Paul Lebeaupin, former Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union.
Klaus Welle became Secretary-General of the European Parliament in March 2009. He held the following positions: Head of the European and Foreign Policy Department at the CDU Central Office, Bonn (1991-1994), Secretary-General of the European People’s Party (EPP) and the European Union of Christian Democrats (EUCD), Brussels (1994-1999), Secretary-General of the EPP-ED Group in the European Parliament, Brussels (1999-2003), Director-General for Internal Policies, European Parliament, Brussels (2004-2007), Head of the Cabinet of the President of the European Parliament, Brussels (2007-2009).
