Shaping the Church in a Secular Age
Symposium (in Dutch)
Following the study day Parish & Office. Between Renovation and Innovation (2020), the symposium ‘Shaping the Church in a Secular Age’ explores questions such as ‘how can believers and the Church relate positively to the secular culture that surrounds them?’ and ‘if we take the ecclesiastical minority position seriously, what does the future of my parish and the Church in general look like?’ The books A Secular Age (2007) by Charles Taylor and Vreemdelingen en Priesters (2015) by Stefan Paas will be the guides throughout the symposium. Keynote speakers are Stijn Latré (director UCSIA) and Stefan Paas (J.H. Bavinck Professor of Missiology and Intercultural Theology, VU Amsterdam).
