Inequality in Education
webinar (in Dutch) on 7 December 2020
Everybody should have equal opportunities in life. That is why education is so important: it is an equalizer – or it should be one. Opportunity poverty is often inherited in cases of weak socialeconomic positions. This has various reasons, from lower self-esteem to less support because of lack of time and means. The democratisation of education seems to have stagnated. And the coronacrisis enhances these effects and existing inequalities.
In this webinar, Luc Huyse reflects on fourty years of democratising education. Mieke Van Houtte looks at the current situation and Saïda Sakali highlights some initiatives that offer hopeful perspectives for the future.
